"There are moments when the heart is generous, and then it knows that for better or worse our lives are woven together here, one with one another and with the place and all the living things."

Credit @wearebayfc

Current programming partners include Noisepop, BottleRock, Oakland Roots/Soul, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Bay FC, Fountain Blues Fest and more.

The program launched in late 2023 with an event featuring performances by top young talent from Oakland School for the Arts, GLIDE Memorial Church, San Francisco Community Music Center, SFJAZZ, Enriching Lives Through Music, and Blue Bear School of Music. Supporting the program is an advisory board featuring 49er legend Ronnie Lott and a team of industry professionals, athletes, artists, entrepreneurs and community leaders.

CIGARBOX MAN

Cigarbox Man is an artist from Chile whose first breakthrough came in 2017, when he won a busking competition in Santiago, and was eventually invited to perform on the main stage at Lollapalooza Chile in 2019. He returned to Lollapalooza in March of 2024.

As his stage name suggests, he plays a guitar he made from an old cigar box, and his music and life are dedicated to the environment and finding value in the things society often discards. His first full length album came out in 2023 and he is currently working on new music to be released this Fall.

DAVID LINDES

Singer-songwriter David Lindes is a born storyteller.  Recently featured on the Outside podcast, he is preparing to release his new album "Long Lost Son" (produced by Grammy winner Alex Cuba), which navigates themes of fatherhood, family, loss and forgiveness. He is also currently developing a podcast for musicians and other public figures to talk about mental health and healing.

FANTASTIC NEGRITO

Phil co-managed Grammy and NPR Tiny Desk winner Fantastic Negrito from the release of his first album "The Last Days of Oakland" through the release of his third Grammy-winning album "Have You Lost Your Mind Yet." With the help of an amazing team, they were able to do what the entire music industry says can't be done: they launched a genre-defying rockstar -- at 50 years old! And somehow it still feels like he's just getting started.

RONNIE LOTT / OAKLAND RAIDERS

In 2016 Ronnie Lott was asked to step in and lead an eleventh hour effort to keep the Raiders football team in Oakland. Phil was hired by Ronnie to oversee community outreach and create the vision for a new coliseum inspired by Oakland's sports legacy and history of social justice. The Raiders ultimately accepted the deal in Las Vegas, but it was an honor to work alongside Ronnie Lott in an attempt to keep the Raiders in their rightful home.

MEXICO BICENTENNIAL

The Mexico Bicentennial was two years in the making (200 actually!). Under the leadership of 5x Olympic Ceremonies producer Ric Birch, it took an unprecedented team of Mexican creatives from film, theater, music, dance and art, along with a full-time staff of over 500, plus over 2000 volunteers to put the event together. The event featured a parade down La Reforma in Mexico City, concerts at the major monuments along the parade route, and an Olympic Ceremonies level finale in the Zocalo -- all leading to President Felipe Calderon's "Grito", the traditional shout of independence. Phil recruited the creative team and produced all the concerts, which included performances by Los Tigres del Norte, Natalia LaFourcade, Lila Downs, Armando Manzanero, and many others.

GREEK THEATER

In 2015 Phil was hired to develop the community program for the Nederlander/AEG bid to operate and book the legendary Greek Theater. The proposal included partnerships with beloved organizations ranging from Homeboy Industries to Grand Performances to Summer Night Lights. Ultimately the bid was awarded to Live Nation, but in large part because of the community support for the Nederlander/AEG bid, after a series of hearings, the results of the RFP were eventually thrown out.

HEINEKEN AERIAL
HALFTIME STADIUM SHOW

On the heels of Mexico's Bicentennial, Phil and business partner Adam Burke were approached by Heineken to put together an aerial halftime show with knights and angels, to activate their sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour. They had 6 weeks to assemble the team, design and manufacture the costumes and props, score the music, choreograph and rehearse the show, and then pull it off in front of 50,000 people during halftime of a Chivas soccer match. Here are the results.
